GetJar is one of the largest independent mobile app stores. The store has been around since 2004 and has been working with several carriers worldwide to bring the GetJar collection of applications to carrier subscribers.
Today, GetJar announced the launch of a white label app store for carriers and content aggregators, called App Catalogue Express (ACE). ACE allows partners to launch their own mobile app stores quickly and easily, filled with content right from the start.
One of the launch projects for ACE is to create a mobile app store for The Carphone Warehouse, Europe’s leading independent mobile phone retailer. The Carphone Warehouse portal offers a selection of high quality mobile apps to customers in the UK, including GetJar’s most popular apps – available for all major platforms and devices.
The demand for apps has soared over the past year. Many operators and other third parties are keen to introduce an app store, without needing to manage the back office infrastructure. ACE is designed to make it quick and easy for carriers, aggregators and partners to launch a pre-populated app store for all major platforms and devices, using GetJar’s large catalogue of existing apps. With this white label store, developers that publish their apps on GetJar can now also reach additional channels outside the GetJar storefront. It is however not completely clear if each white labeled store will contain the full catalog of free apps published on GetJar, or just a selection that the owner of the white label store chooses itself. We have asked GetJar for more details and will update this post when we know more.
