At a roundtable event in London, George Linardos, Nokia’s VP of Product & Media, said that their Ovi Store currently is generating close to 1 million downloads a day. “Download numbers are growing 100% month-on-month”, he said. Currently, the “typical user” downloads 9.5 items, and Nokia is targeting 300 million users in 2011, where they define users as one who has used Nokia’s service once in six months.

Additionally, in an interview at Nokia’s Capital Markets Day event the company said that a completely new version of the Ovi Store (2.0) will be launched in the first half of 2010, which “is a very, very strong new rewrite”. Linardos: “It’s being built from scratch with a few legacy components, which will be phased out over the course of 2.1 and 2.2. So it’ll probably be about 75% from scratch, and three or four months after that it will be 100%.”
