Android Market

In a message from Google, Eric Chu announced that the first Android-powered phone will launch in Japan July 10th, with Market supporting Japanese language titles and descriptions. After the launch, free apps will become visible to users in that market.

Additionally, developers are now able to distribute free apps in Bulgaria and Romania. Although there are no Android devices in these countries yet, Google expects them “to become available soon”.

Android Market is slowly but surely expanding to new countries. For some countries Google needs to add Checkout support however, but we expect that to be implemented soon.

See the full list of supported countries for the distribution of free and paid applications in Android Market here.
